Leadership & Community

My passion for education, leadership, and community involvement has led me to incredible experiences where I’ve worked with students, educators, and organizations to create learning beyond the classroom.

STEM Leadership & Summer Program Coordination

In Summer 2024, I worked as a Program Coordinator, designing and leading STEM-focused experiences for youth in Grades K-8. Through inquiry-based activities, I helped students engage with technology, engineering, and environmental science, making complex concepts accessible and exciting. One highlight was welcoming Barrie MP, Doug Shipley, to our camp. Check out the photo on the left from his visit!

Community Leadership with STEM/STEAM Canada

This January, I had the privilege of working alongside Sherry Downing, Education Director of STEM/STEAM Canada, to help design the upcoming camp season. During this experience, I even created a virtual escape room. Want to give it a try? Click here. Additionally, Sherry shared her insights on our work together. You can read her report here.

School Involvement & Student Engagement

At Codrington Public School, I actively contributed to student life by supervising and mentoring in various extracurricular clubs, including:

  • Chess Club – Encouraging strategic thinking and problem-solving.

  • Junior Girls’ Volleyball – Supporting teamwork and confidence-building.

  • Global Action – Helping students become active, informed global citizens.

I also had the opportunity to accompany my class on a trip to the Stratford Festival, where we watched Romeo and Juliet. This experience brought literature to life and seamlessly tied into our literacy lessons, making Shakespeare more engaging and relevant for students.

Through these experiences, I’ve strengthened my ability to lead, mentor, and inspire students in both academic and extracurricular settings. I’m excited to continue fostering learning through collaborative, student-centered experiences that encourage growth beyond the classroom!
